A genus Fokienia (from either a old Romanised name of Fujian province, China, from in which a 1st specimen was introduced to the American globe) occurs as taxonomic category in the family Cupressaceae. A tree doesn't tolerate shade, & takes modest climate & abundant rainfall to grow better. It occurs primarily in humid soil in montane habitats. Inside Vietnam, it grows in limestone or granite terrain above 900 m altitude.
